Nowadays, our honey is presented as a leading brand in terms of quality and distribution, not only in the regions of Bierzo and Valdeorras, but also nationally and internationally as demonstrated in 2002 when the brand won the Second International Mountain Honey Award held in the French city of Grenoble. Location of the beehives The beehives are located in the Sierra de la Encina de la Lastra and its foothills in the mountains of Oencia, at an altitude between 500 and 800 meters above sea level, between the Galician provinces of Orense and Lugo and El Bierzo (León), next to the Peña del Seo wall and Las Médulas (World Heritage Site). The Mediterranean climate explains the presence of a significant biodiversity of endemic species, formed by extensive areas of Mediterranean forests, chestnut groves, scrubland, hawthorns, riverside forests, thyme, and different plants typical of limestone areas. All of this is shaped by the Sil River and its tributary the Selmo, which flow through natural spaces nestled between steep slopes. Natural and artisanal Our honey is the final product of combining experience, quality, and consumer service. The work of millions of bees throughout the year and over 115 years of experience in handling these animals is reflected year after year in an annual production of over 10,000 kg of multifloral honey. Unique quality High-quality honey, distinguished and recognized as evidenced by the numerous awards obtained in regional, national, and international competitions and tastings. As well as rigorous and thorough analyses, such as pollen analyses carried out by the University of Santiago (Escola Universitaria do Profesorado de Educación Xeral Básica de Ourense) and physical-chemical parameter analyses conducted by the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Nutrition, and Bromatology of the same university; other general analyses carried out by the Government of Catalonia (Department of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, General Directorate of Production and Agri-Food Industries).
