Antinori Solaia is a red wine made from Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes in the Tuscany region (Italy) by the Marchesi Antinori winery.
Antinori Solaia comes from a 10 hectare vineyard located on gentle slopes at 350-400 metres altitude. They are old vines planted on soils rich in limestone and marl. Cultivation is respectful and the vines enjoy warm temperatures during the day and cool temperatures at night.
In the cellar, Antinori Solaia makes each variety separately and ferments with local yeasts at controlled temperatures. It is then aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels before bottling.
Antinori Solaia is an excellent Tuscan wine and one of the most famous internationally, produced only in excellent vintages. It is a true classic that never goes out of fashion and is destined for cellaring.
Solaia has a deep ruby red colour and a nose with aromas of blackcurrant and blueberry, which on the fruity palate presages pleasant aromas of mint, dried flowers, vanilla and white pepper, followed by aromas of chocolate, white and candied. It envelops each mouthful with richness, penetrating precision and smooth, elegant tannins. The finish is long and lingering with significant ageing potential.
