Of Galician origin and popular throughout the country, these peppers are characterized by their small size, green color, and conical shape. Their most curious aspect is the intense spicy flavor that only some of them have, hence the saying “some Padrón peppers are spicy, and some are not”. It is imperceptible until tasted, as there are no visual differences between them. These peppers have a nutritional value very similar to green peppers. Their main component is water, so their caloric contribution is minimal. However, if fried in abundant oil, the calories increase, not because of the peppers, but due to the oil absorption.
Raw, these peppers are an excellent source of vitamin C, but this is not the typical way to consume them. When fried or grilled, they lose a large part of it. They stand out for their content of vitamin A and E, with potassium and magnesium being among their abundant minerals.
It is not recommended to consume these peppers for people with a delicate stomach, as although not all of them are spicy, the chances of one of them being spicy are high.
We offer these peppers in bags of about 300 grams, the ideal size for preparing a good portion.
