Perelada presents us with the Cava Perelada Blue Festival from the D.O. Cava (Spain), made from the Parellada, Macabeo, and Xarel·lo grapes. This cava is a tribute to the Castell de Perelada Festival, held in the summer evenings since 1987.
Every year, the Castle of Peralada hosts one of the most prestigious music festivals in Europe, creating unforgettable nights. To pay tribute to this event, Perelada has created the Perelada Blue Festival, a cava that stands out for its elegance and sophistication, with a remarkable structure and sensory breadth that give it an unmistakable personality.
The wine production at Castillo Perelada has been documented since the Middle Ages. In 1923, Miguel Mateu Pla acquired the castle with the aim of revitalizing this winemaking tradition of the Carmelite monks. Today, this tradition is more alive than ever, incorporating the most modern technology to produce wines that reflect the unique nuances of the soils and vineyards of Empordà. Currently, under the direction of Javier Suqué, the winery focuses on producing quality wines and cavas, planting and acquiring vineyards, and forming a team of prestigious winemakers. Perelada's commitment to quality has been recognized both nationally and internationally.
Perelada is one of the 50 most admired wine brands in the world, according to the "The World's Most Admired Wine Brands 2024" ranking published by Drinks International. Additionally, with the new winery, this commitment to sustainability and wine quality has become even more evident.
Cava is a Denomination of Origin that defends sparkling wines made with unique methods and varieties. Although it is territorially dispersed throughout Spain, historically it is concentrated in Penedès. The Macabeo, Xarel·lo, and Parellada grapes, the traditional trio of Cava, are the most relevant, although other varieties are also gaining prominence. Cava was born in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, the capital of this sparkling wine, where the traditional method of second fermentation in the bottle was implemented. After the arrival of phylloxera, winemakers did not give up and continued to innovate until turning Cava into one of the most recognized sparkling wines in the world. The greatness of Cava lies in its diversity, from young and easy-to-drink sparkling wines to great aging with complexity and fine bubbles, offering the opportunity to pair a bottle of Cava with almost any dish and moment.
