Pesquera Reserva is a red wine made from the Tempranillo grape variety and aged for 24 months in oak barrels. It is an expressive, round, and elegant wine. One of the classic gems of the Ribera del Duero.
Produced by Bodegas Pesquera founded by Alejandro Fernández in the seventies, currently being the flagship of his Group of Four Wineries.
Production and aging
Pesquera Reserva is a single varietal wine made from the Tinto Fino variety. After destemming the grapes, it ferments at a controlled temperature for a period of between 2 and 3 weeks.
Once fermentation is complete, it is aged for 24 months in American and French oak barrels. After this process and before its release to the market, it rests for 12 months in the bottle.
Tasting notes of Pesquera Reserva
- Appearance: Pesquera Reserva has a dark and deep cherry red color, with violet reflections. High layer. Clean and bright. Elegant tinted tear.
- Nose: Highly intense, aromatic and expressive nose. At rest, some woods appear that open up as elegant and creamy, mixing with suggestive toasted notes. The notes of ripe, fleshy red and black fruit appear slowly and progressively. Once opened, the fruit is nuanced by a wide range of spicy notes, tobacco, cocoa, and intense memories of licorice.
- Palate: Wide, enveloping entry. It is a long-lasting, silky, dry, intense and elegant red wine. The fruit is very fleshy, tasty, full of spices and toast. Perfect acidity, integrated and defined, elegant and very pleasant tannins. Very persistent long finish.
Pairing
Pesquera Reserva is ideal to pair with roasted and grilled red meats, aged cheeses, and beef.
It is recommended to decant before consuming. Consume this wine at a temperature of 16ºC.
