Ramón Bilbao Crianza, made with Tempranillo, is a fresh, fruity, and harmonious wine, but not lacking in character. A renewed classic.
Since 1924 in Haro, Ramón Bilbao has been producing high-quality wines in Rioja Alta. In 2015, it was named the best Spanish winery at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in London.
Ramón Bilbao Crianza is a single-varietal Tempranillo wine. Perhaps this is the most consistent wine in the entire range, the secret lies in monitoring each plot throughout the cycle and harvesting each one at the optimal moment. Another key point is the separate fermentation of each vineyard and the final blending of the wines before aging and at each racking. Fermentation temperatures are controlled until 28-29ºC and the racking is done quickly, when it is observed that the extraction of color (anthocyanins and tannins) reaches optimal levels.
The viticultural cycle for the grapes that make up Ramón Bilbao Crianza was very favorable with a low incidence of pests or diseases, as well as excellent vegetative development and a good health status of the vines until the end of the cycle, although with some drought in certain areas. The exceptional health condition of the clusters was a key aspect for the harvest, as it facilitated problem-free fermentations and promised well-structured wines with high levels of color. Very low yields in the vineyard have also contributed to analytically placing the wines from this vintage among the top three of the last 30 years according to the Regulatory Council. It is no coincidence that this harvest has been officially rated as excellent.
Ramón Bilbao Crianza is ideal to accompany cold cuts, mild cheeses, a variety of meats, and even blue fish.
It is recommended to consume this red wine at a temperature between 16 and 18ºC.
