The Lello Reserva Red Wine is a unique expression of the distinctive character of the Douro region, presented in a modern, intense, and passionate style. This wine, carefully crafted with dedication, is a tribute to the rich winemaking tradition of the area.
The grapes used in the creation of Lello Reserva are emblematic of the region, with a combination of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, and Sousão. Each of these varieties brings its own character and complexity to the wine, creating a harmonious blend that captures the essence of the Douro.
The vinification and aging process reflects a commitment to quality and excellence. After total destemming of the grapes and a gentle crushing, a brief pre-fermentative maceration is carried out followed by fermentation in skins for 6-8 days at a controlled temperature of 28-30 °C. Frequent pump-overs during this process allow for the extraction of desired flavors and aromas.
After alcoholic fermentation, an additional maceration period is carried out before separating the wine from the solid residues. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation completes the profile of the wine, imparting smoothness and complexity. Finally, the wine ages in French oak barrels for 12 months, adding layers of character and structure.
Lello Reserva is presented packaged under ideal conditions, with processing in an inert atmosphere and total deoxygenation of the bottle to preserve its freshness and quality. The Lello brand, registered in 1913, has been an integral part of the history of the Borges Wine Society, and this wine continues to pay tribute to the Lello family and the winemaking tradition of the region.
In 2023, Borges celebrated the 110 years of the Lello brand with an innovative, artistic, and creative rebranding, reaffirming its commitment to excellence and continuous evolution. This wine represents the perfect fusion of historical heritage and modernity, offering a unique experience to wine lovers.
