The Red Wine Malabrigo from Bodega Cepa 21, presents us with this red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Duero, made from the 100% Tempranillo grape varieties.
Malabrigo is the name of a plot located in Castrillo de Duero, in the province of Valladolid, which designates the most emblematic wine of the winery. The plot is characterized by its sandy-clay soil and harsh climatic conditions, with large temperature variations between day and night. All these aspects make the concept of terroir reach extraordinary values in this plot and give this wine a great character.
Elaboration: Cold maceration after destemming. Fermentation at controlled temperature in 20,000-liter stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation for 26 days in French oak barrels. Aging for 18 months in barrels of the same type.
Almost 20 years ago, José Moro and his brothers, the third generation of the Emilio Moro family winery, started working on an ambitious project called to lay the foundations of modern viticulture in the Ribera del Duero. The founding objective of Cepa 21 was to produce, with Tempranillo as the protagonist, wines based on winemaking tradition and the terroir of the region, but in line with new trends. In short, wines of pure breed for the 21st century consumer.
The history of the Moro family has been written since 1932 as a project of three generations rooted in the Ribera del Duero and dedicated to discovering the characteristics of their terroir to transmit them in wines with personality.
Currently, Emilio Moro Wineries owns 200 hectares of vineyards, most of which are located around Pesquera de Duero, the birthplace of the winery's founder, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero.
