"

Manuel Quintano La Calavera is an exceptional white wine from Bodegas Manuel Quintano, made with 98% Viura and 2% of other varieties. This wine represents the purity and elegance of the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin, with a meticulous vinification process that highlights its unique character.

The vintage has been much better than expected. Although the year started with abundant precipitation and the spring was rainy and warm, precautions were taken against fungal diseases to preserve the quality of the grapes. However, the weather improved significantly in the summer months, with warm and dry weather, favoring optimal phenolic ripening. As a result, a structured and powerful wine has been obtained, with great balance and exceptional complexity.

The Viura used in this wine comes from the La Calavera estate, a vineyard located at 525 meters above sea level, planted on sandy and reddish soil, with a notable presence of grijos (small stones that promote drainage and mineral characteristics in the wine).

The vinification process begins with skin maceration for 24 hours after destemming, followed by a very gentle pressing and careful settling. Fermentation takes place in 225-liter French oak barrels, where the wine gains more complexity and structure.

The aging process takes place for 24 months in French oak barrels, with two weekly batonnages, a technique that stirs the lees and adds more volume and richness to the wine.
