Origin: Vega de Aranjuez, San Martín de la vega and Ciempozuelos
Peppers are a typical vegetable of our cuisine that, in addition to providing a lot of flavor and color to our dishes, also provide multiple beneficial and healthy properties for our body.
Pimientos
The main component of the pepper is water followed by carbohydrates (3.7g) and contain very few calories, for example 100 grams of edible portion of Italian peppers give us only 23 Kcal. Their protein content is low (0.9 grams) and fat is practically non-existent. They are a good source of fiber (1.2 grams) so it will improve intestinal transit and give us a salty effect
From the vitamin point of view we must rule out its content in vitamin C and vitamin A. Peppers are a good source of vitamin C, mainly if consumed raw. Vitamin C, as well as being a powerful antioxidant, is involved in the formation of collagen and red blood cells, while favoring the absorption of iron or calcium from food and increases resistance to infections and improves our bones and teeth
With regard to Vitamin A, in 100 grams of edible portion of peppers we find 205 micrograms of beta-carotenoids (vitamin A) which has antioxidant action, giving a protective effect against free radicals generated by our body
