Tanuki Bob 2023 is a red wine from V.T. Mallorca made by 4 Kilos Vinícola, a winery located in Felanitx. It combines Manto Negro and Syrah from vineyards on clay-silty soils with iron oxide, known as "Call Vermell." In a mild Mediterranean climate with dry, warm summers, the winery practices environmentally friendly, minimal-intervention farming, using native cover crops to promote vineyard biodiversity. Harvesting is manual, with grape selection in the vineyard. It ferments in 4000-liter fudres with indigenous yeasts. It then ages for 9 months in the same fudres and 9 months more in stainless steel tanks. Before going to market, it rests for 6 months in the bottle. The 4000 liters refer to the production containers, not the sold product. It presents a pale garnet red color and aromas of raspberries and blackberries, with hints of bay, cassis, and a light wooden perfume. On the palate, it shows great volume, a smooth and thick texture, and fully integrated tannins. A delicate, fresh red wine with character.
