Coto de Imaz Reserva is a single-varietal wine made from Tempranillo, mostly sourced from selected vineyards in Rioja Alta (Cenicero). It is a wine that seeks fineness and balance over power. It undergoes an aging process of 18 months in American oak barrels, followed by a further refinement period in bottle of at least 18 additional months. This process allows it to develop the classic complexity of Rioja reserves while maintaining vibrant fruit.
In the glass, it presents an intense ruby red color with a bright garnet rim. On the nose, it is very expressive and balanced; aromas of ripe red fruit dominate, accompanied by notes of vanilla, coconut, and toasted coffee typical of American oak. On the palate, it is silky, with sweet and well-polished tannins that provide a very pleasant and round mouthfeel. Its finish is persistent, with hints of spices and fruit. It is an extremely versatile wine, ideal for pairing with red meats, roasts, barbecues, Iberian cured meats, and medium-aged cheeses.
