The Senatore Cappelli wheat, formerly known as "the chosen breed", is a hard wheat obtained through genealogical selection in 1915 in Foggia by Nazareno Strampelli and named in honor of Senatore Cappelli, father of agricultural reform. Senatore Cappelli wheat is a pure hard wheat that has not undergone genetic mutations or been crossed by man.
