Marqués de Griñón Dominio Valdepusa Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is one of the historic wines of Pagos de Familia Marqués de Griñón, produced in the prestigious Vino de Pago Dominio de Valdepusa, in Toledo. This wine is made exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the oldest vineyard on the property, planted in the early 70s and considered a pioneer for this variety in Castilla-La Mancha. The vineyard, cultivated on well-drained clay-calcareous soils and under extreme continental climate, presents thermal contrasts that favor a slow and balanced ripening of the grapes. The harvest is manual and the production process includes long macerations that enhance the wine's structure and complexity. After fermentation, this Cabernet Sauvignon undergoes aging for 12 to 15 months in French Allier oak barrels, imparting aromatic depth and refinement to its structure. On the nose, the wine is intense and elegant, with aromas of ripe black fruits, currants, and blackberries, combined with notes of tobacco, cocoa, sweet spices, licorice, and subtle mineral hints. On the palate, it is a powerful, structured, and fleshy wine with ripe tannins and a texture balanced by good freshness. Its finish is long, deep, and spicy, showcasing great aging potential.
