Ossian Capitel 2022 is one of the flagship wines of Ossian Vides y Vinos , produced from a single vineyard in Nieva (Segovia). The wine comes from extremely old prefylloxera Verdejo vines , some nearly 200 years old, planted in slate and sandy soils that give the wine remarkable depth and character.
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels. The wine then remains around 9–10 months on its lees , adding complexity, texture and ageing potential while preserving the identity of the vineyard.
On the nose it reveals aromas of ripe white fruit, wildflowers and balsamic hints , with a distinctive mineral background from the slate soils. The palate is broad, elegant and textured , combining freshness with a creamy mouthfeel and a long finish with subtle saline notes. A distinctive white wine with excellent ageing potential.
