Protos Roble 2024 is one of the most popular wines produced by Bodegas Protos , a historic winery founded in 1927 in the Ribera del Duero region of Spain. This wine represents the modern style of the appellation: fruit-forward red wines with a short period in oak that adds complexity while preserving the varietal character of Tempranillo.
The grapes come from vineyards located across the Ribera del Duero region , mainly in the provinces of Burgos and Valladolid , and are made from 100% Tempranillo (locally known as Tinta del País). The harvest is carried out by hand , and the grapes are carefully selected before fermentation.
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks , followed by a period of maceration with the skins to extract colour and structure. The wine is then aged for several months in French and American oak barrels , giving subtle notes of vanilla, spice and light toast while preserving the freshness of the fruit.
On the nose it reveals aromas of fresh red and black fruits such as cherry, raspberry and blackberry , accompanied by spicy and lightly toasted notes from the oak ageing. On the palate it is juicy, balanced and easy-drinking , with smooth tannins and a pleasant fruit-driven finish.
It is a versatile wine that pairs well with grilled meats, cured meats, rice dishes, pasta, mushrooms and semi-aged cheeses , and it is also ideal for casual occasions thanks to its fresh and approachable style.
