Mark: Remirez de Ganuza
Remírez de Ganuza Blanco Reserva 2018 is an elegant white wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja , made by the prestigious Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza in Samaniego, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. It is made mainly from Viura, accompanied by small proportions of Malvasía and Garnacha Blanca , from vineyards over 60 years old located in the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria. The grapes are harvested by hand and the wine is made only from free-run juice , seeking maximum purity and quality in the expression of the grapes.
After fermentation, the wine is aged in new French oak barrels for about 8-10 months on its lees , which provides volume, complexity and a creamy texture. The nose shows aromas of stone fruits, citrus and aromatic herbs , accompanied by delicate toasted and mineral nuances. The palate is ample, balanced and elegant , with good freshness and a long, persistent finish integrating subtle notes of oak and a marked minerality.
This is a gastronomic white wine with great cellaring capacity , ideal for accompanying baked fish, seafood, rice, mushrooms or Mediterranean dishes. The Magnum format (1.5 L) also allows for a slower evolution in the bottle, favoring greater complexity and making it an excellent choice for sharing on special occasions.
