Valeyo 2022 is a red wine from the D.O. Bierzo produced by Bodegas Mauro , the project of Mariano Garcia and his family. It comes from a single plot of about 3 hectares called Miguel Rey , located in Valtuille de Arriba (León) at about 650 meters altitude , on sandy and loose soils that bring freshness and finesse to the wine.
It is made mainly with Mencía (95%) and a small proportion of Godello (5%) from this vineyard. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts and the wine is then aged for approximately 12 months in new and used 500-liter French oak barrels , seeking to maintain the expression of the vineyard without over-emphasizing the wood.
The nose presents aromas of red fruits and wild berries , accompanied by floral and herbaceous notes and light spicy nuances. The palate is elegant and balanced, with fine tannins, good acidity and a long finish that reflects the Atlantic character of Bierzo wines.
