Blecua Magnum Red Wine: The Blecua winery began its activity in July of the year 2000 and is located very close to Viñas del Vero, in the axis that defines the Vero River from Barbastro to Alquézar. Its wines are marketed by Bodegas González Byass.
The Blecua Somontano Red Wine comes from the VIÑAS DEL VERO winery, with the Somontano Designation of Origin, and has been made with the following grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Syrah, and Merlot.
This wine has been aged for more than 20 months in new French oak barrels. For the production of Blecua Red Wine, the best vineyards of Viñas del Vero have been selected to produce the grapes that will give rise to Blecua each year. The harvest is done by hand in small 10 kg boxes. Once in the winery, the bunches are selected so that only the highest quality grapes reach the fermentation tanks. The grapes from each vineyard undergo fermentation separately in French oak tanks.
Fermentation lasts four weeks. The wines begin malolactic fermentation in the fermentation tanks, and once this process has started, the wines are transferred to barrels. After twelve months, the best barrels of each wine are selected.
Once the best wines have been selected, the final blend is made and transferred to barrels for another eight months. Therefore, Blecua remains in the barrel for 20 months. After this time, the wine is bottled.
