Bosque de Matasnos is a very unique wine, due to its high-altitude cultivation and unusual blend for the Ribera del Duero, which always makes it a pleasant surprise.
The Matasnos estate is located in Peñaranda de Duero, Burgos, 18 kilometers from Aranda del Duero in the direction of Soria, in the high plain of the Ribera del Duero at an altitude of 950 meters.
Bosque de Matasnos is made with the grape varieties Tempranillo (90%), Merlot (5%), Malbec (3%), and Garnacha (2%). The aging process of Bosque de Matasnos starts with the best raw materials, selected in the field and later on the sorting belt. Average yield of less than 3,000 kg per hectare mainly from old vines. The harvest of Bosque de Matasnos takes place from October 8th to 21st. An approximate yield of less than 3,000 kilos per Ha.
For aging, only new barrels are used, 90% French oak and 10% American oak, with 36 months of drying, both premium quality. It remains in the bottle for 12 months.
Bosque de Matasnos is ideal to accompany stewed poultry, roasted red meats, grilled or stewed meats, oily fish, cheeses, cured meats, and foie gras.
It is recommended to consume this red wine at a temperature between 16 and 18ºC.
