Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie Joie du Palais is a red wine made from Gamay in Beaujolais by the Lafarge-Vial winery.

Biodynamic farming is practised on granitic soils, in a vineyard more than half a century old and on a steep slope of more than 50%, the grapes are partially destemmed and then fermented in cement tanks using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for a year in used barrels to avoid excessive oak influence and to allow for proper refinement.

Fred Lafarge and Chantal (Vial) Lafarge have established a small domaine of 4 hectares in Beaujolais, with vineyards in Fleurie and Chiroubles. They have discovered old vines (30 to 70 years old) on five terroirs, most of which were already farmed organically. Following the characteristic Lafarge style, they immediately started the transition to biodynamic viticulture.

Tasting Notes for Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie Joie du Palais

In the glass, this wine reveals luscious, creamy fruit that delights the palate with its red fruit flavours. The tannins are soft and complex, giving a feeling similar to layers of granite. The wine is remarkable for its length and focus, offering a lingering and deeply satisfying experience. Its development in biodynamically farmed vineyards on granitic soils, together with its ageing in used barrels, has resulted in a wine of distinctive and refined character.
