Aged for at least 3 years, El Dorado is a blend of rums produced in metal stills and also wood stills. In addition, this rum is created on the shores of Demerara, which makes it a traditionally Caribbean rum.
The label refers to the youngest rum that was used in the blending of this rum, which makes it an attractive and exquisite rum. Because of this, it is considered one of the noblest rums in the world and has a unique flavor for the enjoyment of people who appreciate good drinking.
The unique climate of Demerara creates a perfect environment for the aging of the rum. In addition, the use of oak barrels, where the rum is kept for decades, provides a deep and rich flavor; a flavor unlike anything else.
The history of rum in Demerara, Guyana, began with the Dutch around 1600 when they found a land rich in minerals and a climate that provided the perfect environment for the production of sugar cane. With so much sugar in the area, rum production was inevitable. By around 1780 there were already over 300 distilleries in the region, including El Dorado.
By 1942 only 9 of all the original Demerara distilleries remained and today only a few remain, making El Dorado one of the most traditional distilleries of all.
