The yellowfin tuna roe (Thunnus albacares) is cured with salt from the Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar, washed and dried using an ancient artisan technique. These roe carry the blue MSC seal as they are made from fish obtained through certified sustainable fishing.
They have a very soft texture, a delicate aroma, and provide a very powerful sea flavor to dishes. A Mediterranean delicacy, this premium yellowfin tuna roe is usually sliced thinly to be enjoyed in tapas, various types of sushi, toasts, pizza, pasta, salads, and rice dishes.
Our salted products are natural products that we make using sea salt from the Salinas de San Pedro del Pinatar as the only preservative. Last year, they were awarded the 2019 Artisan Food Craftsmanship Award by the Crafts of the Murcia region, which recognizes the company's trajectory and the exquisite quality of the products it produces, a hallmark of the gastronomy of the Mar Menor and the Murcia region. It also acknowledges our interest in R&D to develop new artisanal products that convey to the new generations of consumers the value of salted products as a healthy food and their umami contribution, providing dishes with the salinity and strength of the authentic flavor of the sea.
In 2020, the Spanish Luxury Association Luxury Spain awarded Salazones Garre the Luxury Spain Safe & Trust Seal, recognizing its Quality and Food Safety policy, which allowed it to renew the IFS Food High Level Certificate in May 2021, renew the MSC Chain of Custody Certificate in September 2021, and obtain the Kosher Certificate and Halal Certificate in 2021 and 2022.
In June 2020, our tuna mojama received the 2020 Superior Taste Award with double gold stars in Brussels, and in January 2022, the mullet roe received the Superior Taste Award with double gold stars. These are the most recognized independent certifications focused on taste worldwide, awarded by the International Taste Institute through blind taste evaluations by a jury composed of renowned Michelin-starred chefs and the most prestigious sommeliers in the world.
Our salted products are part of the 1001 flavors of the Murcia region, and our teams regularly participate in promoting the exquisite cuisine of Murcia at national and international fairs and events.
