As for the vinification, it is carried out in the traditional way in barrels, allowing the wine to develop its distinctive character. Subsequently, the wine is aged for approximately 12 months in barrels, with about 30% new oak.
The Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru, matured in approximately 40% new oak, offers quite an intense bouquet. The vines of this wine, located on the border between Puligny and Chassagne, are between 30 and 80 years old. Batard is one of the five Grand Crus on the Montrachet hill, bordering the Grand Cru vineyard of Montrachet to the west and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet to the south.
Fontaine-Gagnard is one of the finest traditional domaines of the Côte d'Or, a true Chassagne specialist, producing excellent wines that set the bar high with each vintage and reflect its wide range of great terroirs.
On the nose, subtle aromas of orange pith, roasted hazelnut and walnut, with a light spicy touch. It is important to note that it will require adequate time for the oak flavours to fully integrate and develop.
On the palate, a pleasant rounded texture is experienced, accompanied by soft tropical notes of passion fruit and pineapple. These flavours are perfectly balanced by a delicate line of acidity, adding freshness and vitality to the whole.
