5th Year is the "top" wine from Finca Rio Negro, a wine for aging that requires a long and careful elaboration of at least 5 years, intended to continue improving in the bottle for many more years.
It is made solely from the selection of the best plots of the Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties from our vineyard, which by their nature allow for the production of wines with extraordinary aging potential.
From October 2nd to 8th.
3.62/5.2 g/L tartaric acid.
2.3 g/L
18 months in new French oak barrels.
Tasting Note
An extraordinarily complex, balanced, and elegant wine.
On the nose, it is opulent, complex, and intense, with black fruit predominating, well integrated with notes of new wood, spice, and balsamic. On the palate, it is powerful, meaty, and very persistent, yet balanced and highly polished, with a silky tannin and a long aftertaste.
Vintage Characteristics
A total of 517 liters/m2 were collected between October 1, 2018, and September 30, 2019. While the rains were primarily concentrated in October 2018 and April 2019, those that occurred at the end of August and early September (69 liters/m2) were particularly significant for the quality of the harvest.
Summer temperatures were warm, typical for the season, with few heat waves in July and August. The presence of intermittent rain throughout September helped keep temperatures milder than in other years and allowed the grapes to reach maturity with higher acidity levels than recorded in previous years, along with a better and more balanced phenolic maturity.
