In La Ribera del Duero, the 2020 vintage was rated as excellent. Bud break began in late April with mild temperatures and heavy, sustained rainfall, followed by grape set in June and harvest in mid-September. This vintage was very generous due to the abundant rainfall and there were no weather incidents.
This 100% Tinto Fino wine comes from small plots of centenary vineyards located at an altitude of over 900 metres above sea level in the provinces of Soria and Burgos. The soils are shallow with a direct base on limestone rock and the climate presents extreme contrasts.
As for the ageing process, the grapes are harvested by hand and in parlots, and all the bunches are destemmed. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks, followed by ageing in French oak barrels for 11 months. Finally, it is stabilised, filtered and bottled.
In terms of tasting notes, this wine is very fruity, with hints of wild fruits such as redcurrants and sour strawberries. On the nose, there are hints of menthol and cream, and the aromas are clean and fresh. On the palate, the wine is tasty, fine, balanced, elegant and delicate, with good acidity and a light passage. The wood, barely perceptible on the nose, is subtle on the palate, with smooth tannins.
