Glenkinchie 12 Years is a whisky of the class single malt, elaborated at a short distance from Edinburgh, which came to replace the Glenkinchie of 10
The Glenkinchie 12 is a single malt Scotch whiskey that replaced the 10-year-old version, positioning itself as the flagship of the Lowland style in its collection of classic whiskeys. It faithfully reflects the fresh and sophisticated aromatic profile characteristic of this area. Founded in 1825 by brothers John and George Rate, the distillery was originally called Milton, until it adopted its current name in 1837 after obtaining an official license. The name “Glenkinchie” comes from the Kinchie Burn, a stream that runs through the valley, whose name in turn derives from 'de Quincey', the surnames of the first owners of the land. Located about 25 kilometers from Edinburgh, it is known as the 'Malta of Edinburgh'.
The production of this outstanding whiskey is done by a traditional method, using a cast iron cooling coil instead of more modern techniques, giving it greater complexity and character. Savoring Glenkinchie 12 reveals an exquisite subtle, floral flavour, with a clean, medium palate that evolves into notes of butter icing, lemon cheesecake and freesias. Its light, aromatic and appealing flavor, together with its creaminess and aroma, make Glenkinchie an ideal companion for cheesecake or the traditional Scottish 'Cullen Skink' soup. Due to its body and light flavor, it is recommended as an aperitif or to enjoy before a meal. Glenkinchie 12 is a majestic yet delicate whiskey, perfect to enjoy neat or as a select gift, with an alcohol content of 43%.
