Honoro Vera Rioja is the first wine D.O.C. Rioja of the group Juan Gil bodegas Familiares. The first harvest of the Bodega Riojana Rosario Vera was carried out in the campaign 2018 with the elaboration of a young wine, Honoro Vera Rioja, that now goes to the market.
It is a young red Tempranillo, Crianza with a short step in French oak barrels of a part of its coupage. The grapes to produce this wine come from vineyards planted in clay-rich limestone soils. Fermentation was carried out in small stainless steel tanks for 15 days at temperatures below 26 º C.
The vineyards, owned by the winery, are composed of small parcels ranging from 15 to 60 years and the facilities are located in the town of Alava in Laguardia. The oenological direction is by Bartolomé Abellán, technical director of the group, and Sara Garcia.
Honoro Vera Rioja is balanced, very fruity, with a palate of spices, ripe tannins, tasty, mineral with a long finish that leaves memories of fine cocoa. From the firm they consider it perfect for pairing with rice, pasta, vegetables, ham, sausages, roasted or grilled meats and fresh and cured cheeses. As for the temperature of conservation and consumption indicate that is between 14 and 16 degrees.
