from Delicat Gourmet

Temporarily out of stock

Tasting notes:

Very pale straw yellow, with green glints. On the nose the freshness and purity of the fruit are evident from the first moment. A second analysis reveals fragrant notes of lemon blossom, grapefruit and sweet hints of kiwi, concluding with the creaminess left by five months of oak maturation. On the palate the grapefruit and citrus reappear, with a creamy finish

Company information:

Dr Christofer Rawson Penfolds and his wife went to Australia in 1845. They built a cottage where they set up their medical practice. They planted vines and began to make wines which soon became famous, so they decided to increase production to sell throughout Australia. In 1950 Max Shubert was appointed "Chief Winemaker" of the winery with the will to advance quality. He developed Grange Hermitage, Bi n 707, Bin 389, Bin 28 and Koonunga Hill. Today, Peter Gago, Penfolds' Chief Wine maker, is in charge of following the philosophy initiated by Max Shubert, which has led Penfolds to be considered the best winery in Australia and a world reference. With the exception of Magill Estate Shiraz, Penfolds wines are the result of blending grapes from different areas resulting in typically Australian wines

The key to Penfolds' success has been a lineage of visionary winemakers. There have been only four chief winemakers at the helm of Penfolds - Max Schubert, Don Ditter, John Duval and Peter Gago, each a custodian of a rich winemaking tradition that stretches back more than 170 years. Our current Penfolds winemaking team has over 100 years between them as Penfolds winemakers. They constantly refine and improve their work, while respecting the winemaking techniques of their predecessors.
