Capacity (cl): 75 Luna Beberide Mencía is a red wine from the D.O. Bierzo. 30 years after Bernardo Luna started making wines and laid the foundations of what Luna Beberide is today, the second generation of Beberide is still leading the winery. The philosophy of this winery is based on simplicity and quality, and for this they seek excellence through the care and respect of each of the vines. The Camino de Santiago crosses the vineyards of Luna Beberide, located in the west of Bierzo, one of the most unique areas of the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León. There are few wines with the honesty and expressiveness of the young mencía from Luna Beberide. It is a single varietal made from the south-facing slopes that the winery owns in Villafranca del Bierzo and Cacabelos. There, at about 700 meters above sea level, the vines take root on clay-calcareous soils, which give the wine body and elegance. Only the must of the best grapes ferments in stainless steel tanks to become a young wine with a clear intention of being something more. It boasts a bright raspberry color and a complexity not common in unaged wines. It is able to convey the minerality of the soil and evolve with elegance for a couple of years, although it can also be enjoyed right after bottling. Memories of wild berries dominate the palate, with a precise wild acidity speeding up a sweet, tasty, and slightly spicy passage. Its fine tannins melt on the palate, covering the cheeks with a silky touch that lasts several minutes after the last sip. It is juicy, fresh, and vibrant, with aromas and flavors of great clarity, contained alcohol content, and a very direct message: that of fruit and terroir. Only one of the pioneering wineries of the appellation, driving the resurgence of Bierzo wines, is able to interpret the mencía grape with such transparency and obtain from it such a high level of expression. Old vines, viticulture without herbicides or pesticides, and maximum respect for the grape juice are the keys that guarantee the typicality and unquestionable quality in each bottle of Luna Beberide Mencía.
