The White Wine Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon from Bodegas Marqués de Riscal, presents this white wine from the D.O. Rueda, made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grape varieties.
The French variety Sauvignon Blanc was introduced by Marqués de Riscal in Rueda in 1974 and today the winery owns 70 hectares of vineyards with an average age of over 25 years. It is currently one of the varieties authorized by the Rueda Denomination of Origin thanks to its great adaptability to the terrain and its ability to produce white wines with great aromatic intensity, good acid balance and minerality.
Marqués de Riscal Sauvignon Blanc is a 100% organic wine made with the minimum possible intervention and with total respect for the environment and the ecosystem that surrounds us. Its fresh image represents a wine born from the earth, from the roots, a sustainable and quality wine.
Making: After a period of cold maceration and after the extraction and clarification of the must, the slow fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature of between 13ºC and 15ºC, to protect the primary aromas so peculiar to this variety. Once fermentation is complete, the wine remains in contact with its fine lees, with the intention of increasing the sensation of volume in the mouth and improving its aging capacity.
Optimal serving temperature: Between 8 and 10ºC.
The history of Bodegas Marqués de Riscal is the story of an innovative company, pioneer and benchmark of a wine sector in continuous transformation.
The winery was founded in 1858 by Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga. In 1862 its first wines were bottled, thus becoming the oldest bottled wines of Rioja.
A few years after its founding, the winery quickly began to win numerous awards, but one of the most important came in 1895, when Marqués de Riscal became the first non-French wine to win the Diploma of Honor at the Bordeaux Exhibition.
In 1972 Marqués de Riscal began production of the first white wines from Rueda and, in recent years, the winery has dared to incorporate two new appellations into the project, V.T. Castilla y León and D.O. Getariako Txakolina.
For those who want to travel through the history of the winery from its foundation to the present day with the possibility of enjoying Marqués de Riscal wines, in 2006 La Ciudad del Vino was inaugurated, which today has a hotel designed by the famous Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry.
