We tell you about the Campestral winery
Considered the largest ancestral wine cellar in Spain, Campestral is focused on the production of natural wines, without any additives, without intervention, without manipulation. Therefore, the grape is the only ingredient in the wines produced by this winery, a personal project of Andrés Troya located in an idyllic spot in Arcos de la Frontera, in Cádiz.
A natural wine is not the same as an organic wine. The difference is significant, because while an organic wine may have some additives, a natural one cannot use anything at all. Only grapes. This allows to obtain the true aroma and flavor of the wine, with all the essence of the fruit from which it comes. Campestral's portfolio includes still natural wines (reds, whites, and clarets), both young and aged under a flor veil and with barrel aging. But they also produce sparkling wines using the ancestral method, which is the first method through which the production of sparkling wines was discovered.
Campestral wines have impressed, among many others, the guru Jancis Robinson, Master of Wine, weekly wine columnist for the Financial Times, wine adviser for Queen Isabel II's cellar, and respected international critic in her own guide. Robinson has rated all the wines above 16 points out of 20, highlighting the palomino under a flor veil with 17.5 points.
The Campestral project has been created from scratch in an old agricultural estate with various purposes between Arcos de la Frontera and Algar. In a privileged location on a gentle hill with 250 meters of altitude and overlooking the white town of Arcos de la Frontera, the Guadalcacín reservoir, and the Sierra de Grazalema, the Finca El Encanto has been created. The estate covers 8 hectares, most of which are occupied by a vineyard cultivated with organic agriculture methods where Tintilla de Rota, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties are grown.
