Merayo Mencía is a wine from D.O. Bierzo made from 100% Mencía grapes from the 2021 harvest. This wine comes from vineyards over 80 years old and is grown in clay soils with pebbles, giving it a unique character. Its winemaking includes a 10-day maceration and alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by a 6-month aging on fine lees, which imparts creaminess and complexity to the wine. Sensory-wise, Merayo Mencía displays a bright violet-red color. On the nose, it offers intense aromas of berries and a floral touch. On the palate, it is powerful and enjoyable, with ripe round tannins and a persistent finish. This wine has been recognized in various guides, scoring up to 91 points in the Guía Peñín in different years. The Merayo winery is located in Finca Miralmonte, where modern techniques are combined with traditional practices to produce high-quality wines.
