Organic regenerative extra virgin peeled sweet almond oil, Alma de Alvelal ®, made from the first cold press of regenerative organic peeled sweet almonds, from a soil and landscape restoration project in southeastern Spain, grown in dryland conditions.
Pure almond oil without additives and great moisturizing properties for your skin and hair. Suitable for topical and food use.
The process of making almond oil is cold-pressed using traditional methods with the use of mats. Being an oil with neutral organoleptic characteristics, it easily absorbs the benefits of aromatic herbs or other flavoring elements like essential oils. For example, if we immerse aromatic herbs such as rosemary, thyme, lavender, etc., and leave this preparation in a cool, dry place, it will keep for a long time in an airtight container. Also, depending on the aromatic herb you use, you can use it as a massage oil or as a dressing for your salads or culinary dishes. It will provide the specific properties of the chosen aromatic herbs combined with those of almond oil.
Almond oil has emollient and nourishing properties ideal for treating dry skin, preventing wrinkles and skin aging, as well as nourishing dry and damaged hair. Its firming properties help improve skin tone, combat cellulite, and prevent stretch marks during pregnancy.
Unsaturated fats, or so-called good fats, improve the absorption of vitamins A, D, E, and K. They are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. Almond oil contains omega 3 and 9. "Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of polyunsaturated fat. We need these fats to strengthen neurons and for other important functions. These acids help keep the heart healthy and protected against a stroke. They also help improve heart health if you already have heart disease" (Source: Medline Plus).
Our regenerative organic almond oil contains an abundance of vitamin E compared to other non-organic and even organic almond oils that are not regenerative. Some benefits of Vitamin E include:
- Great power to combat the appearance and development of cancer cells.
- Reduces the risk of thrombosis and cardiovascular diseases due to its anticoagulant action.
- Delays aging.
- Improves our eye health.
- Participates in the formation of red blood cells.
- Reduces chronic inflammation.
- Maintains healthy and strong hair, skin, and nails.
- Prevents Parkinson's disease.
- Improves wound healing.
- Prevents dementia and cognitive decline.
- Favors the proper functioning of the nervous system.
- Improves memory and learning.
- Contributes to good muscle function and improves performance and recovery after physical activity.
The regenerative organic almonds pressed to make this oil come from the Soil and Landscape Restoration project supported by the Alvelal Association and the Commonland Foundation. This is why they are called "regenerative," as the special practices used to care for the crops differentiate them from the rest and are reflected in the quality and taste of the final product. Therefore, we believe it is important to be reflected in its denomination.
Our farmers were already within the framework of organic agriculture and, since 2016, have been adding knowledge acquired through training and supervision from the Alvelal Association in regenerative practices. The farmers who formed the Almendrehesa society relied on this differential basis of applying regenerative practices in their daily lives to produce not only organic almonds but regenerative organic almonds for soil and landscape.
These practices implemented through the "4 returns" operational group are ensuring a fertile future for the next generations. They aim to keep the soil nutrients and generate a native ecosystem specific to the area. The practices applied include:
- Creation of vegetative cover with native species chosen specifically to support that particular soil and its characteristics within the ecosystem in which it is located.
- Oasis creation by building natural ponds to collect rainwater.
- "Whales" to capture water near trees and retain it.
- Minimal plowing.
- Planting windbreak hedges to attract pollinators.
- Planting aromatic herbs.
- Inclusion of bee panels.
- Inclusion of extensive livestock on the farms.
- Inclusion of green manure, pruning shredding, and addition to the soil.
- Creation of infiltration trenches.
- And more.
