The Peique Godello White Wine from Bodegas y viñedos Peique, presents us with this white wine from the Bierzo D.O., created from 100% Godello grape varieties.
Elaboration: The grapes macerate for about 6-7 hours at a controlled temperature of 10ºC, while alcoholic fermentation lasts for 10 days. Then the wine undergoes 5 months of aging on its lees in stainless steel tanks.
Recommended serving temperature: Between 7 and 10ºC
The Bierzo region is located in the northwest of the province of León, within the Autonomous Community of Castilla y León, and covers an area of 2,954.28 square kilometers, which represents 18% of the provincial surface.
Vineyards in El Bierzo are characterized by a fragmentation of plots, small-scale ownership, and sloping terrain, ranging from 450 to 800 meters. The soils are loamy, moderately acidic, with no carbonates, typical of humid climates. The hillside soils are composed of a mixture of coarse elements, quartzite, and slate.
El Bierzo has a very special microclimate, very suitable for crops in the area. The natural barrier of the Sierra de los Ancares calms the onslaught of Atlantic storms and generates a continental climate, with influence from the Ocean, suitable for vine cultivation, which receives the right amount of rain and sun.
The history of Peique was born in Valtuille de Abajo, a village of no more than a hundred inhabitants, where anecdotes about vineyards and wine were constant in every home. The teachings of the elders, effort, and hard work shaped the spirit of the Peique family, who have been cultivating the soils of Bierzo for three generations.
The vineyards from which the grapes used to produce the Peique Godello wine come from are 15 years old and are located at an altitude of 450-580 meters. The Godello grape variety grows in them, which is cultivated with love, care, and a focus on sustainability.
