Prado Enea, made with Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Garnacha, and Graciano, has seemed to us a consistent and well-structured wine, with the wood very well integrated and a tasty aftertaste. A great wine.
Since 1932, in the historic neighborhood of Haro Station, and following traditional procedures combined with technology, Muga produces wines of the highest quality.
Production and aging
Prado Enea is a blend of 80% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano varieties. Along with the grapes from Torre Muga, the grapes for Prado Enea are always the last to enter the winery. This ensures optimal ripening. The grapes ferment in oak tanks with a capacity of 10,000 kg, without temperature control or the addition of yeast. The maceration can vary but can last up to twenty days.
The aging of this wine is 12 months in oak tanks of 16,000 liters, thirty-six months in oak barrels (minimum), and thirty-six months (minimum) in the bottle. After aging, a light clarification is done with fresh egg white.
Tasting notes of Prado Enea
- Appearance: Prado Enea has a polished ruby red color, very pure and bright.
- Nose: The aroma reveals clearly differentiated forest berries: blueberries, sloes, wild berries, even hints of blackberries. All of this is accompanied by finely intertwined underbrush herbs and very subtle perceptions. The oak spices are barely noticeable as they are well integrated, but we can perceive cloves, coconuts, and vanilla.
- Palate: The entry into the mouth is unctuous and dominant, in a few seconds we feel an intense and lasting sensation of fullness. Without a doubt, this is the most surprising phase of the wine. The acidity is present but gentle, the tannins are very sweet and polished, and the minerality has an infinite character. In the aftertaste, the descriptors are reversed, with the underbrush herbs taking dominance, perhaps with slightly different nuances like dill, fennel, and mountain tea. Just as it fades, notes of fine oak reappear.
Pairing
Prado Enea is ideal to accompany game stews, big game, and roasts. We recommend decanting before consumption. Ideal serving temperature is 16ºC.
