The Detilio red wine from Ribera del Duero is an authentic oenological gem that deserves to be highlighted. Produced in one of the most prestigious wine regions in Spain, the Ribera del Duero, this wine embodies the passion and winemaking tradition of the area.
The family character of this project aims to maintain the essence of respect for our agricultural origins, hence the iconic representation of the cereal spike that so many farmers have cultivated in the fields of Langayo, our hometown. Bodega Casa Detilio is born as a tribute to our parents, Paquita and Tilio, who have instilled in us the spirit of respect, work, friendship, and passion.
In the heart of the Valladolid's Ribera del Duero, on its southwest balcony, is the "Teso la Talda" estate, an exceptional plot of land, a hill with steep slopes and beautiful valleys, where the Tempranillo variety reaches its maximum expression and uniqueness. At an altitude of 849 meters above sea level, it gives rise to a special microclimate. A mass of sedimentary limestone rock, deep soils with 82% calcium carbonates. Surrounded by pine, oak, and low vegetation formed by thyme and broom. It confers a privileged place for nature and wildlife. 11 hectares of our own vineyard, 100% Tempranillo, with a planting density of 3,300 plants/ha, started planting in 2002.
The first vintage of DETILIO 2020, rated as excellent by the Regulatory Council, is an author's wine, exclusive and highly intense in production, with a lively nerve that seeks the purity, elegance, and finesse provided by the albariza soils of the plateau. Produced from a single vineyard, the "Teso la Talda", hand-harvested in early October 2020 and made through integral vinification in 500-liter barrels with daily manual punch-downs, native yeasts, malolactic fermentation, and aging in French oak barrels for at least 14 months, to forge the perfection of the purity of Ribera del Duero, a very high level of self-demand that can only lead to excellence.
