Perelada presents us with the Vino Tinto Amfitrió from the D.O. Empordà (Spain), made from Syrah, Garnacha Negra, and Carinyena Negra grapes. This round and versatile wine was created to celebrate Perelada's centenary in 2022, representing the open-door spirit of the winery and its ability to incorporate external influences without losing the essence of Empordà.

Amfitrió is a friendly, round, and pleasant wine that achieves a harmonious balance between Garnacha Tinta and other varieties such as Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Samsó. This balance is achieved through special aging in different types of containers: Bordeaux barrels, foudres, and concrete tanks. In the mouth, the wine is cheerful, fluid, fresh, and long, qualities that make it a perfect host for any occasion.

Aging Process

The Vino Tinto Amfitrió benefits from careful and diversified aging:

  • 60% of the wine ages in Bordeaux barrels of French Allier and American fine oak for 10 months.
  • 20% ages in foudres for 12 months.
  • The remaining 20% rests in concrete tanks for 14 months.

This aging process brings exceptional complexity and depth to the wine, highlighting its fruity and spicy notes, with well-integrated tannins and a persistent finish.

History of Bodega Perelada

The Bodega Perelada has a rich viticultural history documented since the Middle Ages. In 1923, Miguel Mateu Pla acquired the Castle of Peralada, revitalizing the winemaking tradition of the Carmelite friars. Today, under the direction of Javier Suqué, Perelada is dedicated to producing high-quality wines and cavas, using modern technology and a team of prestigious winemakers.

Centenary Celebration

The Vino Tinto Amfitrió was specifically created to commemorate Perelada's centenary in 2023. This special edition celebrates a century of winemaking excellence and the ongoing innovation of the winery, always maintaining the authenticity and quality that characterize it.

If you have any doubts when buying the Vino Tinto Amfitrió, do not hesitate to contact the sommelier of our online wine shop, who will advise you without obligation to ensure a successful choice.
