Regenerative organic unsalted toasted almonds, Largueta variety, from a soil and landscape restoration project in southeastern Spain, grown in dryland farming.
Toasted almonds without any kind of addition, the traditional variety in our territory, the Largueta or also called Desmayo, couldn't be more delicious. With its thick skin, it easily peels off from the kernel when toasted, and with a simple gesture of pinching it between the thumb and index finger, lightly rubbing, the skin comes off.
Collected in the farms of our farmers in the Steppe Highland, located in the north of Granada, Almería, and Northwest of Murcia, these almonds go through their normal shelling process and after that, a handmade toasting process.
Through a thorough screening, we manage to discard any bitter almonds that may be received from the farms, keeping the percentage within the lowest in the market so you can enjoy sweet almonds without a bitter taste.
Our regenerative organic almonds contain, among other vitamins and minerals, an abundance of vitamin E compared to other non-organic and even organic but non-regenerative almond oils. Among the benefits of Vitamin E, we can find:
- Great power to combat the appearance and development of cancer cells.
- Reduces the risk of thrombosis and cardiovascular diseases due to its anticoagulant action.
- Delays aging.
- Improves the health of our eyes.
- Participates in the formation of red blood cells.
- Reduces chronic inflammation.
- Maintains healthy and strong hair, skin, and nails.
- Prevents Parkinson's disease.
- Improves healing.
- Prevents dementia and cognitive decline.
- Promotes the good functioning of the nervous system.
- Improves memory and learning.
- Contributes to good muscle function and improves performance and recovery after physical activity.
These regenerative organic almonds come from the Soil and Landscape Restoration project supported by the Alvelal Association and Commonland Foundation. Hence its "regenerative" surname, which is due to the special practices with which the crops are cared for, making them stand out from the rest and reflected in the quality and taste of the final product. Therefore, we believe it is important to be reflected in its denomination.
Our farmers were already within the framework of organic agriculture and have been adding acquired knowledge through training and supervision from the Alvelal Association in regenerative practices since 2016. The farmers who formed the Almendrehesa society relied on this differential base of applying regenerative practices in their daily lives and, therefore, produce not only organic almonds but regenerative organic almonds of soil and landscape.
These practices implemented through the operational group 4 returns are what ensure a fertile future for the coming generations, aiming to ensure that soil nutrients remain and that biodiversity generates its own native ecosystem of the area. The applied practices include:
- Creation of vegetative cover with native and specially selected species to support that specific soil and its characteristics, within the framework of the ecosystem in which it is located.
- Oasisification by creating natural pools for rainwater collection.
- Whales to capture water near the trees and retain it.
- Only necessary plowing.
- Planting windbreak hedges to attract pollinators.
- Planting aromatic herbs.
- Inclusion of bee panels.
- Inclusion of extensive livestock in the farms.
- Inclusion of green manure, pruning shredding, and addition to the soil.
- Creation of infiltration ditches.
- Etc.
