Senderos De Ukan is a DOCa Rioja wine, made from 100% Tempranillo by Ukan Winery.
Senderos de Ukan is a red wine produced in the Rioja Alavesa region, within the Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa) Rioja. This wine is the result of a careful selection of Tempranillo vineyards located in different villages in the area.
The grapes used in the production of Senderos de UKAN are harvested by hand and transported in 15 kg boxes to preserve their integrity. Once in the winery, the grapes are carefully selected before beginning the vinification process, which is carried out by hand.
The soil in which the vines grow is clay-loam with a calcareous composition, which contributes to the unique expression of terroir in the wine. The grapes are harvested by hand, which allows for a precise selection of grapes at their optimum ripeness.
As for the vinification process, a cold maceration is carried out for 48 to 72 hours, followed by a 12-day fermentation in 40 and 80 HL concrete tanks. During this process, gentle pumping over is carried out to extract the desired compounds from the grape skins.
After fermentation, the wine undergoes malolactic ageing and is aged for 12 months in 225L French oak barrels. This stage in barrels adds complexity and smoothness to the wine, integrating the aromas and flavours of the oak with the fruity characteristics of the Tempranillo variety.
Senderos de UKAN is made with minimal intervention, allowing the wine to express its natural character and reflect the characteristics of the terroir and grape variety. The result is a balanced, fluid wine, full of fruit, with remarkable freshness. It is ready to be enjoyed from the moment it is bottled.
Senderos de Ukan has a bright and deep cherry red colour. On the nose, it displays a remarkable aromatic intensity, with predominant fruity notes, such as cherries, blackberries and plums. There are also subtle spicy and vanilla notes from the oak ageing.
On the palate, the wine shows a smooth, velvety texture, with fine, well-integrated tannins. The fruit remains present, with a refreshing acidity that adds vitality to the whole. Ripe red fruit flavours stand out, accompanied by hints of spice.
