The launch of Zarzal Godello, with its 2016 vintage, marked Bodegas Emilio Moro's first foray outside of the Ribera del Duero region. With this project in the Bierzo Designation of Origin, the Valladolid-based winery is betting strongly on its white wines, such as Zarzal Godello 2023, a monovarietal made respecting the typicity of the variety to the maximum but revealing surprising subtlety and freshness year after year. For the production of Zarzal Godello 2023, the technical team of Bodegas Emilio Moro selected vineyards planted in sandy-loam soils at the beginning of the slopes, with shadier exposures, seeking the greatest freshness and integrity of the godello grapes. After the harvest, fermentation was carried out in wood and the wine was aged on its lees in 2500-liter French oak fudres.
