Umbria Salinas is a red wine produced by Sierra Salinas with Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha Tintorera, Monastrell and Petit Verdot in the D.O.P. Alicante.
A year of drought and a slightly earlier harvest. Optimum ripeness with fresh and fruity wines, with lower alcohol content than usual. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks with cold pre-fermentation maceration. Total maceration of 18 days. Ageing in French oak barrels for 12 months and subsequent bottle ageing.
Dry-farmed Monastrell vines over 30 years old. Garnacha Tintorera in dry vines over 10 years old. Cabernet Sauvignon on 10 year old trellises. Petit Verdot on 10 year old trellises.
Bright cherry red colour. Very fruity nose, intense notes of black fruit (blackberries, plums) harmonised with subtle spices, hints of chocolate and nuts. Good volume in the mouth, silky but enveloping tannins, in a fresh and balanced whole with a persistent finish.
