Red Wine Vetusta Viñas de Fuentenebro

The Red Wine Vetusta Viñas de Fuentenebro belongs to the D.O Ribera del Duero and is composed of 100% Tempranillo grapes.

The grapes selected for this wine come from two of our vineyards in the municipality of Fuentenebro (Burgos) located in two places: "El Bosque" and "el Carrascalon". The first one is characterized by a soil dominated by large boulders and a red clay subsoil, it is located at 960 meters above sea level. In "el Carrascalon" its terroir is composed of the red clay soil characteristic of the area and its special altitude, 1000 meters above sea level. These two vineyards were planted in 1999 and their production per hectare this year was 5800 kg per/ha.

Making: The grapes were harvested by hand in 15 kg boxes and transferred to the winery in less than half an hour. When the grapes entered the vat, they were cooled for a pre-fermentation maceration in order to preserve all the aromas of the grapes. Once the alcoholic and malolactic fermentations were completed, the wine was matured for two months in concrete tanks, then racked into 225-liter French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels for 6 months.

Optimum temperature 13ºC to 15ºC
