Viña Pomal Reserva is a red wine produced under the Rioja Designation of Origin, by Bodegas Bilbaínas, with 100% Tempranillo grapes.
The centenary Bodegas Bilbaínas were born with a Gallic heart and consolidated with a Riojan spirit. Bodegas Bilbaínas is the oldest bottling company in La Rioja, it is the winery with the largest surface area of underground cellars in the territory.
Viña Pomal Reserva is a monovarietal of Tempranillo (100%). Viña Pomal Reserva is characterized by a rather traditional winemaking process: after destemming and crushing, a moderately long maceration takes place and, after alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, the wines are racked and lightly clarified before being transferred to barrels. The wine spends 18 months in barrels; barrels that traditionally are made of American oak. In this process, 2 or 3 rackings are carried out, which naturally clean the wine, thus avoiding the need for further treatments.
After its time in the barrel, the wine spends two years in bottles before being released to the market.
Viña Pomal Reserva is ideal to accompany rice dishes with meat or vegetables, moderately strong cheeses, duck, and oily fish. It is recommended to decant this wine before consuming and serve it at a temperature between 16 and 18ºC.
