The White Wine 1564 Viognier from Sierra Norte Winery, presents us this White Wine IGP Tierra de Castilla (Spain),with a grape variety 100% Viognier.

Cultivars

The vineyards are located in the El Cerro site, at an altitude of 700-740 m. They are planted on medium-depth limestone-sandy soils. Thus, under a continental climate softened by Mediterranean influence. The age of the vineyards is 22 years with a Guyot trellis training system.

The wine comes from vineyards worked from an organic agriculture, based on respect, sustainability and balance. Variety 100% Viognier, which results in a ecological and vegan wine. Its soils are protagonists due to their activity and positive biological conditions that favor the rapid assimilation of organic matter, encouraging the obtaining of all its expression.

It was awarded the Gold Medal at the Catavinum World Wine & Spirits Competition 2021, to the 2019 vintage.

Making

The grapes are harvested at night to avoid oxidation of the musts as much as possible and to preserve the most delicate aromatic nuances. Pellicular maceration and subsequent fermentation at low temperature (15ºC) followed by a brief aging in French oak Bordeaux barrels until bottling. The processes of clarification, stabilization and filtering of the wines before bottling are carried out in the most respectful way possible, to preserve as much character as possible.
