About Bodega Miquel Jane

Exclusive high quality wines (Barcelona)

At the end of the 19th century, the marriage formed by Antonio Jane Formosa and Josefa Pascual Formosa gave rise to Bodega J. Miquel Jané, which is now led by siblings Bernadette and Josep Miquel, representing the fourth generation of the family.

The original properties were located in Alt Penedès and the family's wine was successful in Cuba thanks to the frigates of another branch of the family.

Varieties 100% Red Grenache
Alcohol +/- 13.00%
Aging Young

Wine produced entirely on our Cal Costas estate, 500 meters from the winery.
Vines about 10 years old, growing in rather poor soil, which stresses the vine and results in grapes with a very interesting concentration of color, sugars, and polyphenols. Harvested by machine in the early morning and brought to the winery immediately. Destemmed and put in tanks. Each year is different, but more or less, we leave it with the skins for 6 to 10 hours, and do a direct bleeding of the tank, cold static settling, and fermentation at controlled temperature, always maintaining the varietal aromas.
Short time in tanks and bottled as quickly as possible to avoid oxidation.

Tasting notes

Appearance: not very intense color, aiming for a pale but shiny and bright with strawberry red tones.
Nose: hints of slightly acidic red fruit, not fully ripe strawberry, and a touch of pomegranate. After 5 minutes in the glass, it evolves into a sweeter and silkier aroma.
Palate: fresh, with a slightly astringent touch that makes it very interesting. It has a gentle and smooth mouthfeel. The aromas linger in the mouth for quite a while.
Pairing: could be a great aperitif wine, paired with Manchego cheese, cockles, or different types of olives. It also goes well with fresh cheese pasta, white meat with citrus, or grilled sardines or salmon.
