Fontaine Gagnard Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie is a white wine made from Chardonnay by Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard.

Maltroie has one of the most complex soils in Chassagne; small rocks sitting on a deep layer of mineral clay, rich in magnesium, iron oxide and a deeper layer of calcareous rock as far as the roots go.

In Burgundy, tradition runs deep, and winemaking at Fontaine-Gagnard is no exception. All the wines are vinified with indigenous yeast. The whites are aged for one year and the reds for 18 months in barrels made by the domaine.

Fontaine-Gagnard is one of the finest traditional domaines in the Côte d'Or, a true Chassagne specialist, producing excellent wines that set the bar high with each vintage and reflect its wide range of great terroirs.

Tasting Notes for Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru La Maltroie

This is one of the first parcels to ripen, producing wines with a lot of energy and seriousness.

Pleasant wines with a hint of sweetness. It is not one of the most mineral plots but they are very long on the palate.
