Scala Dei Masdeu is a high-quality red wine produced by Cellers de Scala Dei in the prestigious D.O.Ca. Priorat. This wine is mainly made from Garnacha vines grown in the Masdeu vineyard, the highest on the estate, located almost 800 meters above sea level. The grapes come from vines that were planted in 1974 and are grown in the goblet method, allowing for good flavor concentration. The soil where these vines are cultivated consists of red clay and limestone, imparting unique characteristics to the wine. Vinification is done traditionally, with Masdeu aging for about a year and a half in cement tanks and foudres, contributing to its complexity and elegance. In the tasting, Scala Dei Masdeu is very expressive, showing delicate aromas of red and black fruits, Mediterranean herbs, and berries. On the palate, there is notable fullness, with well-defined tannins and a mineral, spicy background. The succulent red fruit combined with good acidity provides perfect balance, ending in a long, warm finish.
