Senderos de Ukan is a DOCa Rioja wine made 100% with Tempranillo at Bodega Ukan. This wine stands out for its balance and freshness, the result of a careful selection of vineyards and artisanal winemaking.
Senderos de Ukan is a notable red wine from the Denomination of Origin Qualified (DOCa) Rioja, made with 100% Tempranillo grapes at Bodega Ukan by the renowned winemaker Koldo Eguren. This wine comes from select Tempranillo vineyards located in the Rioja Alavesa region, where the grapes are harvested by hand and transported in 15 kg boxes. This careful process ensures that only the best grapes, at their optimal ripeness, are used.
The winemaking is done artisanally, beginning with a cold maceration of 48 to 72 hours, followed by a fermentation lasting 12 days in concrete tanks of 40 and 80 HL. During this process, gentle pumpovers are done to extract the desired compounds from the grape skins. Afterwards, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, followed by aging for 12 months in 225L French oak barrels, adding complexity and softness to the final product.
This wine expresses the natural character of the terroir and the grape variety, resulting in a balanced and fluid wine, loaded with fruity notes. It has a bright cherry red color, with intense aromas of cherries, blackberries, and plums, along with subtle spicy and vanilla notes from its oak aging. On the palate, it has a smooth and velvety texture, with well-integrated tannins and a refreshing acidity that adds vitality.
