Alamos MalbecAlamos Malbec is one of the most representative wines from the range produced by Bodega Catena Zapata, one of the most influential wineries in the recent history of Argentine wine. This wine is born with the idea of expressing the character of high-altitude Malbec from Mendoza, maintaining an accessible style and true to the varietal profile that has made this grape famous worldwide. The Álamos line was created to showcase the typicality of the Mendoza vineyard from different plots located in elevated areas of the region. The grapes come primarily from vineyards located in Luján de Cuyo and the Valle de Uco, two of the most prestigious wine regions in Mendoza. In these areas, the vines are situated at altitudes that can exceed 900 meters above sea level, where the combination of sunny days and cool nights favors a slow and balanced ripening. These conditions help preserve the natural acidity of the grape and develop intense aromas, a distinctive characteristic of high-altitude Argentine Malbecs. The wine is made from 100% Malbec, a variety that has become the emblem of the country. After harvest and a maceration phase to extract color and aromas, fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures. Subsequently, the wine undergoes an aging period of approximately 6 to 9 months in French and American oak barrels, which adds complexity and structure without masking the fruity expression of the variety.Visually, it presents a deep purple color with violet reflections, very characteristic of Mendoza Malbec. The aromatic profile is intense and expressive, with a predominance of ripe black fruits such as plum, blackberry, and black cherry, accompanied by floral hints of violet and delicate notes of vanilla, cocoa, and soft spices from barrel aging. On the palate, it is balanced and enveloping, with mature and silky tannins that provide texture without being aggressive. The flavors of black fruit reappear accompanied by hints of chocolate and sweet spices, leading to a persistent and harmonious finish that maintains the varietal identity of Argentine Malbec.
